MUNICIPALITY OF SHELBURNE COUNCIL UPDATE
October 27, 2009
SHELBURNE – The Council for the Municipality of the District of Shelburne met for its Regular Session on October 26, 2009. Council agreed to move forward on the following issues.
- Council will attend a meeting hosted by the Town of Shelburne to discuss the future of an economic regional development authority in Shelburne County.
- Council has approved and ratified its annual independent audit performed by Belliveau Veinoitte.
- Council has agreed to provide $2000 to develop an emergency comfort centre in Port Clyde.
- Council ratified a motion to support an initiative from the Municipality of Yarmouth to have greater municipal representation on the Resource Recovery Fund Board.
- Council agreed to have a more detailed analysis and discussion of the maintenance and capital requirements for dry hydrants and local fire water access.
- Council announced that municipal offices will be closed for the Holidays from 12 pm December 24, 2009 12 pm to January 4, 2010.
- Council announced that the Municipality will host a public Holiday reception at the Municipal Administration Building from 10am to 12pm on December 24th.
- Council approved a new remuneration and expenses policy.
- Maritime Testing was awarded a contract to perform a Phase 1 environmental assessment at the Shelburne Industrial Park.
The Municipality will continue to work with provincial and federal funding partners to recruit doctors to the area and to develop a new state of art medical clinic.
