MUNICIPALITY OF SHELBURNE ANNOUNCES NEW AGE FRIENDLY INTIATIVES PROGRAM FOR SENIORS

SHELBURNE – The Council for the Municipality of the District of Shelburne has approved a new program designed to enhance community infrastructure and services for seniors throughout the Municipality. Each project under this program will significantly enhance the ability for community organizations in the Municipality of Shelburne to offer services for our seniors. This program is a partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Health Promotion and Protection and the Nova Scotia Department of Seniors.
The following community organizations will be receiving support under this new program:
- Clyde River Busy Bees
- Port Saxon Leisure Hour Club
- Black Loyalist Heritage Society
- Birchtown Community Centre
- Jordan Bay Community Hall
- Sandy Point Recreation Group
- Middle Ohio Fire Department and Community Hall
- Lower Ohio Recreation Centre
- Upper Clyde Social Club
- West Green Harbour Recreation Centre
- Sable River Community Hall
Council also considered the following items at its regular meeting of Council:
- Council endorsed the recommendations from the Kids’ Fair Play FUNd to provide assistance to 21 children in the Municipality of Shelburne.
- Council approved the annual budget of the Region 6 Solid Waste Management organization.
