MUNICIPALITY OF SHELBURNE SUPPORTS NEW
PUBLIC PROSECUTION APPOINTMENT

SHELBURNE - The Council for the Municipality of Shelburne announced today their
support for the recent decision by the Government of Nova Scotia to appoint a new full
time public prosecution lawyer to its Shelburne office. It is the Municipality’s
understanding that this appointment is effective immediately.
Representatives of the Municipality have met the the Premier of Nova Scotia, the
Minister for Service Nova Scotia, the Minister of Justice and the Director of Public
Prosecution Services on this matter over the last several months. It has been the
assertion of the Municipality that from an operational perspective the residents of the
Municipality and Shelburne County would be better served by a full time representative
and we have also pointed out that in order for our communities to grow, essential
services such as this ought not to be cut or reduced.

The Municipality welcomes Ms. Josie McKinney to the area on a full time basis.
