The Municipality of the District of Shelburne is seeking interest from individuals to act as its Returning Officer (RO) for the 2024 Municipal Election. This election is a fully electronic election.


This position is a part-time, term position from April 1, 2024 to October 31, 2024, working approximately 15-20 hours per week taking into consideration extended work hours during significant election milestone dates. The candidate can create their own in office work schedule to meet the job requirements for the duration of the term at $20 per hour up to a maximum of 400 hours.


The RO is responsible for the preparation and delivery of the municipal election in accordance with the Nova Scotia Municipal Elections Act. This election is a fully electronic election, with internet and telephone voting options.


The ideal candidate would have experience working in a responsible capacity in elections (municipal, provincial and/or federal). Information on the duties of a Returning Officer can be obtained at the Municipal Administration Building, during normal business hours, Monday through Friday – 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, by viewing the Nova Scotia Elections Act, or by viewing the job description or can be found here.
