At its November 13, 2024 Council meeting, the newly elected 53rd Council of the Municipality of the District of Shelburne appointed their Warden and Deputy Warden.

Penny Smith, Councillor for District 2, was nominated and appointed as Warden for the Municipality of Shelburne. Warden Smith has held the position of Warden for the past eight (8) years, since 2016 when she became a member of Council.

Warden Smith shares, “I would like to thank Council for the privilege to continue as Warden and am excited to work with Deputy Warden Wagner and all of Council in strengthening and growing our community”.

Heidi Wagner, Councillor for District 5, was nominated and appointed as Deputy Warden for the Municipality of Shelburne. Deputy Warden Wagner is new to this position. She became a member of Council in 2020. The Deputy Warden acts in the absence or unavailability of the Warden in various capacities.

Deputy Warden Wagner states, “I am humbled and honoured to receive the support from Council to serve as Deputy Warden. I believe the Municipality of Shelburne is one of the best places to live in Nova Scotia and I am committed to continuing to see our community thrive. I look forward to working as a team alongside Warden Penny Smith, Councillors and staff at the Municipality of Shelburne”.

Dale Richardson, Councillor for District 7, has been Deputy Warden for the Municipality of Shelburne for the past four (4) years, since he became a member of Council in 2020. We thank Councillor Richardson for his dedication and commitment to the Deputy Warden position during that time.

District 1 – Councillor Paula Sutherland
District 2 – Warden Penny Smith
District 3 – Councillor Sherry Thorburn Irvine
District 4 – Councillor Anthony Gosbee
District 5 – Deputy Warden Heidi Wagner
District 6 – Councillor Ron Coole
District 7 – Councillor Dale Richardson

The Warden, Deputy Warden and Councillors are all thanked for their dedication and commitment to the Municipality of Shelburne. Their leadership is essential to the continued progress and success of our area.
