Welkum Park

Welkum Park Dock LakeWelkum Park is owned and operated by the Municipality of the District of Shelburne. It is a small day use park and beach located on Welshtown Lake. Many people of all ages enjoy the refreshing fresh water on hot summer days and a picnic lunch. 

Amenities include: Unsupervised fresh water swimming; large parking area, port-a-potties, 3 source separation units for waste; 3 gazebos; picnic tables, park benches, floating dock, swing set with a regular seat and baby seat; an accessible swing and a small playground. 

The Municipal Recreation & Parks Department offers swim lessons throughout the months of July and August. The lake water is tested regularly by the Department (June – Sept) to ensure safe public swimming. The dark color of the water is due to mineral content.

Welkum Park is located 10 minutes from the Shelburne intersection (Hwy 103, Exit 26). Travel up the Ohio Road (Hwy 203) to the Lower Ohio Union Church and turn left at the intersection. Then head across the bridge to the Upper Clyde Road and turn right. Travel about 1/2km to see the Welkum Park sign at Civic #8946.
