The Municipality is proud to announce a series of bold, forward-thinking initiatives that mark a major milestone in our commitment to environmental sustainability. Through a new power purchase agreement with Renewall, beginning in 2027, 100% of the electricity we purchase will now be sourced from a renewable energy project in Queens County. This transformative contract ensures that all municipal operations powered by purchased electricity will be fueled by clean, green sources—setting a strong example for climate leadership and dramatically reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.

This commitment to clean energy is being matched by real, on-the-ground action. Solar panels have recently been installed at our Municipal Administration Building at 414 Woodlawn Drive. These panels will harness the power of the sun to provide clean, renewable electricity on-site—significantly reducing our overall energy consumption and dependency on fossil fuels.

In addition, we’re embracing the future of transportation by installing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the same location. These chargers will be available to both employees and visitors, making it easier for everyone to make greener travel choices. We’re also proud to provide a dedicated EV charging station for Sou’West Nova Transit, reinforcing our support for clean, public transportation options in our community. These two projects have been 70% funded by the Sustainable Communities Challenge Fund.

Together, these actions clearly demonstrate that the Municipality is not just talking about sustainability—we’re investing in it. From 100% renewable electricity, to generating our own solar power, to supporting electric transportation, we are taking concrete steps to reduce our environmental impact and create a cleaner, greener future for all.

We invite the public to celebrate these exciting developments with us at our
