Public Notice: Jordan River Trail Bridge Closed to OHVs
As per an engineering inspection completed at the end of this past November, the Jordan River Trail Bridge has been deemed not adequate to handle off highway vehicles in its current state. To ensure safety for users, which is top priority, the bridge is now closed to off highway vehicles (OHVs) but will remain open to pedestrians. Barriers and signage have been installed at both ends of the bridge.
The bridge was originally opened to OHVs as a temporary measure to provide trail connectivity until the long term rehabilitation of the bridge was defined. The duration of it being open to OHVs depended on the condition of the bridge and unfortunately the recent inspection indicates that it is no longer safe for OHV use. The Municipality has made the rehabilitation of the Jordan River Trail Bridge a priority capital project, committing funding and securing grants from the Province of Nova Scotia and ACOA. The project has a workplan to be completed in 2026 and preliminary work started this past November.
