Project Complete at the Sandy Point Sewage Treatment Facility
The Municipality of the District of Shelburne is pleased to announce the successful completion of significant upgrades to the Sandy Point Sewage Treatment Facility. This project valued at approximately $600,000 is made possible through funding support from the Municipal Capital Growth Program, the Sustainable Services Growth Fund, and the Municipality of the District of Shelburne.
These improvements include:
✅ A new electronic septage receiving station, providing a convenient local disposal option for licensed and registered septic system cleaners. This modern system improves efficiency, enhances tracking, and ensures septic waste is managed safely and responsibly within our municipality.
✅ A new polishing wetland, the final stage in the wastewater treatment process. This environmentally focused enhancement provides additional treatment before water is released, helping the facility meet environmental standards while positioning it to support future residential and community growth.
These investments strengthen essential municipal infrastructure, protect our natural environment, and ensure the Sandy Point facility is prepared to serve the needs of residents and businesses for years to come.
The Municipality extends its sincere thanks to the Government of Nova Scotia through the Municipal Capital Growth Program and the Sustainable Services Growth Fund for their partnership in making this important project a reality.
Together, we’re investing in sustainable infrastructure that supports healthy communities, environmental stewardship, and future growth.
