At a presentation by Nova Scotia Power to our Council on June 22, 2022, regarding the Roseway dam, located immediately north of Highway 103, near Shelburne, we were made aware that although Nova Scotia Power do not intend to generate electricity from the dam again due to deterioration of the structure, they will be requesting the dam be re-licensed by the Honourable Tim Halman, Minister of Environment & Climate Change before the end of the year. Following this information, Council was also informed, by local Fisher, that the controlled flow structure is negatively impacting specific fish spieces – such as glass eel.
