Public libraries all across our province provide critical services to people in all of our communities. Due to rising costs, public libraries in Nova Scotia can no longer sustain said collections, programs and services without significantly depleting reserve funds and are unable to provide living wages for the majority of library staff. The Council of the Municipality of the District of Shelburne urges Nova Scotia Federation of Municipalities to consider adequate and sustainable funding for public libraries.
