The Municipality of the District of Shelburne is inviting our community to help imagine the future of the Hartz Point property.
Now that the 558-acre property is in municipal ownership, we are beginning an important consultation process to hear ideas about the types of businesses, activities and development that could help create jobs, attract investment and contribute to our community—while respecting the character of the surrounding area.
We want to hear from you!
Consultation will include a broad range of voices from across our community, including Council, municipal staff, the Economic Growth Committee, local businesses, neighbouring municipalities and residents. Your input will help Council better understand the opportunities, priorities and concerns that should guide future decisions for Hartz Point.
This survey asks you to share your thoughts on potential anchor businesses or activities, complementary uses that could support them, and any types of development you feel may not be appropriate for the property.
Prefer to share your ideas in person? Two public consultation sessions will also be held:
Tuesday, October 20 at 6:00 PM
Black Loyalist Heritage Centre, 119 Old Birchtown Road
Wednesday, October 21 at 2:00 PM
Municipal Council Chambers, 414 Woodlawn Drive
Completed surveys are requested to be submitted by October 30, 2026. The feedback received through this consultation will help guide Council as it considers what types of development to attract and support at Hartz Point.
This is your community, and your ideas matter. Help us imagine what Hartz Point could become!
