Shelburne Municipal Council Council Meeting Summary
January 7, 2009
The Council of the Municipality of the District of Shelburne met for their regular meeting on January 7, 2009. Council is moving forward on the following items:
- COUNCIL SUPPORTS KIDS’ FAIR PLAY FUND. Council endorsed the recommendations of the Kids’ Fair Play FUND to provide approximately $3,674 to allow disadvantaged children and youth to participate in sport, recreation, and cultural opportunities.
- MUNICIPALITY OF SHELBURNE TO CONDUCT MUNICIPAL ENERGY AUDIT WITH TOWN OF SHELBURNE AND TOWN OF LOCKEPORT. Council approved a motion to join with neighboring municipalities to conduct an energy audit and greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions inventory and audit. This project is part of the Municipality’s commitment to incorporating greenhouse gas and air pollutant reductions as part of our Integrated Community Sustainability Plan.
- COUNCIL CREATES FIRST EVER ACCESS TO INFORMATION POLICY. The Municipality of Shelburne now has a transparent and concise access to information policy. The policy includes a procedure for obtaining access to non routine information, a fee structure, and an application for access to a record. The policy reflects the laws and regulations contained in the Municipal Government Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Regulations. This is part of Council’s Policy and By Law Review initiative.
